Thursday I didn't do much but go to the chiropractor and pretty much veg for the rest of the day. Joe went hiking, he doesn't know how to veg, lol!
We were up very early Friday morning, we had to be on the road by 7:30 to catch the 9:30 ferry in Port Townsend. We were there by 8:30, making us second in line to load on the ferry. We were a little nervous about putting our big rig on the ferry but all went well. They really pack them on there, we were so glad we were second on so we didn't have to try to put it in some of the small places we saw them put some of the other big rigs. They really know how to park everyone. It is just a short 30 minute commute over to Coupeville WA. It is like taking a puzzle apart when they start letting everyone off the ferry. All the small cars and motorcycles that were parked next to us went first, then us and the big semi's next to us, so on and so forth.
It was a long drive back to Burlington and hwy 5 then to hwy 1a and the border. It took us 1 hour to get across the border. It is Friday so there was a long line. After showing our passports and answering a few questions we were on our way. We were heading for the town of Hope, with no reservation we were not sure if we would be staying there. Luckily the Wild Rose RV Park was not full. Hope is a very, very small town The RV park recommended the Home restaurant so we had dinner there, the food was pretty good. Took a quick trip around, basically one main street. Joe took me back to the park then he went for gas and to check truck tires. We would have to stop in the morning and check the fifth wheel tires.
Saturday morning we woke up to pouring rain. I mean it was raining sideways. Not fun to hook up in that kind to rain. Glad I had a rain jacket and pants.
Today we are heading to Kelowna where our friends, Ivor and Rita live. They stay all winter at Rancho Rialto in the space next to our park model. It rains most of the morning. Once we get through the pass it stops but the wind starts. The wind was pretty gusty and moving the rig around a lot. We stopped at the visitor center just outside Kelowna and discovered that the wind had blown off the door to our hot water heater, bummer!
We finally find Ivor and Rita's house and park the fifth wheel in their drive way and get hooked up. After some lunch they took us around to the RV stores to see if we could get a new door. Of course everywhere we went they said if had to be ordered. One last store, and we noticed they had an avalanche in the parking lot, we were hopeful! But of course it would need to be ordered. Than owner said just a minute let me go look at my avalanche, when he came back he had the door in hand and it was a match. That was the good news, the bad news it would cost us $112, as he would need to order one to replace it. Once we had it back on our fifth wheel Joe wired it on so this wouldn't happen again. Expensive lesson, we should of wired it in the first place because the latch didn't like to stay in place.
After a great steak dinner we all went down town. What a great place to walk around. We really enjoyed ourselves.
