The town itself is quite small and the house are so close together and on top of each other.
Once we got our land legs back we went looking for some place to eat. It is amazing how a little ocean air wets the appetite. We strolled through a few shops and walked over to the casino, which is not really a casino, before deciding to eat at Antonio's Cabaret. The food was good and plentiful. I had an sausage sandwich with home made potato chips and Joe had a calzone. We were so full we had to take a good walk before boarding the bus for a tour of the interior of the Island. This bus is from the 1950's and in excellent shape.
This is the last year they will be using them because they are not able to get parts for them any longer. It is really to bad because they are great old buses. The tour is 2.5 hours long and takes you up the skyline drive. You are looking not only at the rugged interior but beautiful ocean vistas.
We stopped at one corner to look at a fox that was resting in the shade. They have gray foxes on the island.
A little further up the road there is a great big buffalo munching on grass. Later we were able to see a whole herd of the buffalo up on one of the ridges.
While enjoying the back patio Kim, the bus driver, found another little fox. This one is a female and just laid there and let us all look at her. Isn't she the cutest thing!!!!!!
On the way back we went by the Zip line. We really wanted to to the zip line, 5 of them, but it was quite expensive, $120 per person so we decided not to. We did get to see other riders on them. The longest is 1045' long and you go about 50 miles per hour. They flew across the distance, it really looked cool.
By the time the tour ended it was time to get back on the ferry and head back to Dana Point (about 1.5 hr trip) and about a 40 min drive home.
What a wonderful day, one we will always remember. Friday it is Captain Dave's Whale watching. Can't wait!!!!!!
