Another BIG surprise and this awesome city tops our list of most favorite towns we have visited this year along with DeLand and Bradenton / St. Petersburg, Florida. Friendly people, great music scene, favorite restaurants, wonderful city parks for walking, multitude of lakes & streams for kayaking and plenty of state parks for miles of hiking. Top it off with TWO race tracks, Anderson Motor Speedway a high banked paved fast 3/8 mile track and Greenville-Pickens Speedway a quick flat 1/2 mile paved track steeped in history dating back to the 1950's with well known drivers Ralph Earnhardt (Dale Sr.'s Dad), David Pearson, Harry Gant, and Butch Lindley as past champions. Wish I would have planned more than 5 days here as we didn't even come close to accomplishing everything we wanted to see or do.
FALLS PARK ON THE REEDY
This beautiful Greenville city park has miles of walking & biking trails and is completely surrounded by downtown with plenty of excellent restaurants for after walk lunch, local brews, and catch the NASCAR race on TV or enjoy a concert in the amphitheater.
TABLE ROCK MOUNTAIN STATE PARK
This huge hunk of rock sits about 45 miles North of Greenville on gorgeous curvy back roads winding through quaint towns with lots of history and beautiful green valleys. The TABLE ROCK TRAIL gains 1,964 ft. elevation in 3.5 miles before reaching the 3,124 ft. summit. The abundant lakes are perfect for canoeing or kayaking.
PARIS MOUNTAIN STATE PARK
Another mountain park 15 minutes North of town with hiking trails, lakes for kayaking, and huge amphitheater for summer concerts.
IVY ACRES RV PARK
Camped at this beautiful RV park tucked in a little valley between mountains and the rushing Saluda River with several miles of trails for my evening sunset walks.
