Redding

Here it is Saturday already, what to do today.  The plan is to just goof off and then go to the races in Anderson.  Fortunately Joe was looking at the Sprint site and noticed that the race for tonight has been canceled.  He went to Shasta Raceways website and there was nothing there saying it had been canceled.  We didn't want to drive there and find no race, so I took a look at the web site and hit their facebook page and guess what, there it says tonight's race has been canceled.  It would havebeen nice if they put that on their web site.
Plan B, we went to the movies again, this time to see Maleficent.  I really liked this movie, not as much as I did the X-Men movie but it was pretty good.  It has a new take on an old fairy tale.  Again it is a movie we would recommend you see.
After the movie we did our grocery shopping for the week, then went back to the RV park for a nap.  Later we went back into Redding for pizza.  We ate at Mary's Pizza Shack, great pizza and beer:0)  Then we went to walk around downtown, not much to see, a lot of empty buildings.  As we were walking back to the truck we hear some music coming out of a wine bar called Vintners Cellar, so we  went to investigate.  There was a three piece band playing and they sounded pretty good.  They were called The March of  Buffalo and played sort of folksy bluegrass, country music.  Mostly original songs.   I ordered a glass of red wine. It was a moscato called Vino Rosso Dolce a sweet red wine. I ended up buying a bottle of to take with me.  Joe opted  for a craft beer, it was pretty good too, similar to Sierra Nevada pale ale.
It was getting late and time to head back to the RV park and get ready for an early departure in the morning.
This is our second time in Redding, the first time was in 2002 on the Harley.  My opinion of it hasn't changed much.  I didn't like then and I really didn't like it any better this time around.  It is hard to drive around in, the streets are really screwy and it is crowded and very congested.  The people seem to be friendly, one plus!  I don't think I want to come here again.
