Townsend TN to Huntsville AL (10/18)

Today is a travel day. Not to far to go, around 200 miles.  It is a beautiful sunny day for traveling.  I am still tried from yesterdays hike and could use a do nothing day.  I don't think that is going to happen for a while.  The drive seems long today, mostly freeway but the scenery is beautiful.  We came this way to AL when we left Bristol several months ago.

We arrive at the Ditto Landing campground on the Tennessee River.  We can not find the office, but we were told we would be in site 16.  We drive around the campground until we find our site, but there is a problem someone is already camped there.  Joe walks around trying to find the camp host, but there isn't one.  Finally he is able to ask someone where we go to check in.  It seems you have to go to the marina.  A sign would have been nice.  Joe comes back and says the guy who handles reservations took the weekend off and they don't know anything about our reservation. The campground is not full so we are told just to find a spot and come back and let them know which site we picked and pay for it.  We get a nice site and were happy to discover that the fee is only $19 a night.  We only have electric and water, but will only be here a few days.

Once we set up we go to see Joe's mom and brother.  We had a very nice visit with them and a nice dinner.  I was glad to get back home and just relax a little before going to bed.  Tomorrow we are going to the NASCAR race at Talladega.  This will be my first supper track. It is 2.66 miles around it. I was here years ago with Kristy and Joe's dad.  We did a tour of the track but I have never seen a race on it.
