Smoky Mts (10/12)

After yesterdays relaxing do nothing ,we are headed to Townsend TN in the Smoky Mts.  We had such an enjoyable do nothing day and even went to a movie to see The Good Lie, staring Reese Witherspoon. This was an excellent movie and a true story.  It is about the Lost Boys of Sudan.  If you go see it bring Kleenex.  It is a very touching story with excellent acting.

This morning we are up early and on the road by 9am.  We only have around 250 miles to drive today so it shouldn't be to bad.  Will I did say shouldn't, but it became a very long day.  A lot of two lane roads with 50 mile an hour speed limit. But the scenery was beautiful and enjoyable to drive through. It is a rainy morning and lots of fog, especially the closer we get to the Smoky's.

I sure wish the vivid red would show up better, they are so amazing.

We decided go through Sevierville and avoid Gatlinburg, thinking
we would miss all the tourist traffic of Gatlinburg. Little did we know that Servierville and Pigeon Forge have grown together, it took us well over 45 min. to go 4 miles to our turn off.  See the pic to the right, that is the traffic we were in.  What a mess.  Once on the 321 to Townsend it got a little better. All the traffic was going the other way.  We didn't know that this is one of the busiest times of the year in this area because of the fall colors.  We left this at morning at 9am and finally were parked by 4pm this afternoon.  I was glad I had left overs to heat up and didn't have to really cook.  We had bought a box of Bojangles Chicken (a big chain in the south) for dinner last night, .  They have really good chicken, almost as good as Popeye's chicken.  Bojangles is also spicy. It is just as good left over.

Watched a movie and went for a walk then to bed.  It was a long day.
